My affair with clay started with a burnt out college kid and a need for an art elective. Art was never something I had really tried my hand at for fear of not being "good enough" or "creative enough". What a lame excuse! What I learned in that first ceramics class 3.5 years ago is that bringing enthusiasm and energy to whatever you're doing is always going to make your art more than "enough". I'm so glad I didn't let this illogical fear stop me from discovering this amazing medium, and allowing me to tie the things I love most in this world together. Through the process of sgraffito (Italian for "to scratch"), I have been able to transmit all of the silly ideas in my head right onto a pot! Now my aim is to merge my background in biology and my obsession with the macabre to bring a little bit of magic into everyday life.
